How to check

Checking your Peugeot Traveller tyre pressure

Two minutes at home or on a garage forecourt is all it takes.

Find your pressure

Look up your tyre size in the pressure chart, or check the sticker inside the driver's door jamb or fuel filler flap.

Check the tyres cold

Recommended figures are cold pressures — measure before driving, or at least a couple of hours after a journey.

Top up all four monthly

Check every tyre (and the spare) once a month and before long trips, then refit the valve caps securely.

Why it matters

The right pressure pays for itself

Tyres naturally lose around 1–2 psi a month, and more in cold weather — so even careful drivers end up under-inflated. Running your Traveller below Peugeot's recommended pressure increases rolling resistance, which means more fuel burned, faster shoulder wear and longer braking distances in the wet.

Over-inflating isn't the answer either: too much air shrinks the tyre's contact patch, wearing the centre of the tread and making grip and ride quality worse. The recommended figures in the chart are the sweet spot — and if you're carrying a full load of passengers or luggage, switch to the laden values before you set off.

How pressure shapes your grip on the road

Under-inflated Only the shoulders touch — vague steering, extra fuel, hot edges
Correct pressure Full, even contact — best grip, wear and fuel economy
Over-inflated Just the centre grips — harsher ride, faster middle wear

The red zones are where a mis-inflated tyre carries the load — and where it wears out first.

Help & Advice

Tyre pressure questions, answered

What tyre pressure should a Peugeot Traveller be?
It depends on your tyre size and variant — most Traveller fitments sit roughly between 30 and 38 psi (about 2.1–2.6 bar). Use the chart on this page to find your exact size, and confirm against the sticker inside the driver's door jamb or your handbook.
Where do I find the recommended pressure on the car?
Most Peugeot models have a tyre placard inside the driver's door jamb; some print it inside the fuel filler flap or glovebox lid. It lists front and rear pressures for each approved tyre size, including fully-laden figures. The owner's handbook has the same table.
When should I use the laden pressures?
Use the laden (loaded) figures when the car is carrying close to a full load — four or five occupants, a packed boot, or towing. The extra pressure supports the added weight and keeps the car stable. Drop back to the normal figures once you've unloaded.
What's the difference between psi, bar and kPa?
They're just different units for the same pressure. UK forecourt gauges usually read psi (pounds per square inch), European handbooks often quote bar, and kPa (kilopascals) appears on many door stickers. 1 bar = 14.5 psi = 100 kPa — or simply switch units on the pressure chart.
How often should I check my tyre pressures?
Once a month, and always before a long journey or when loading the car up. Tyres lose air naturally, and a visual glance won't spot a few psi missing. Check them cold, and if one tyre keeps losing pressure faster than the rest, have it inspected — it may have a slow puncture.
