Hankook tyres started out in 1941 as the Chosun Tire Company, the first ever tyre company in Korea. Due to the Korean war, time were tough for the young business but hard work and enthusiasm ensured its survival. The name of the company was changed in 1953 to Hankook Corporation, which literally means Korean. After the war, the Korean economy boomed and so Hankook tyres could grow alongside it. As the Korean transportation system improved and major investment was made into the country’s highways, business rapidly expanded for Hankook and they were soon exporting to countries throughout Asia. Their slogan ‘Driving Emotion’ shows their commitment to creating a driving experience that goes beyond mere transportation to one that brings pleasure.
