Semperit tyres are manufactured by the Semperit Group, a large Austrian business producing many rubber products such as hoses, conveyor belts, handrails for escalators and much more. The company began production of its rubber goods in 1850, in a factory in Wimpassing, Austria. In 1896 it opened a second factory in Traiskirchen, Austria, and the manufacture of tyres began in 1900. Over the years it broadened its range by introducing pneumatic truck tyres, winter tyres, whitewall tyres and studded tyres. In 1985, Semperit was integrated into the Continental Group. The name comes from the Latin ‘semper it’ meaning ‘it always runs’.
