Why it matters

The right pressure pays for itself

Tyres naturally lose around 1–2 psi a month, and more in cold weather — so even careful drivers end up under-inflated. Running your Continental below Bentley's recommended pressure increases rolling resistance, which means more fuel burned, faster shoulder wear and longer braking distances in the wet.

Over-inflating isn't the answer either: too much air shrinks the tyre's contact patch, wearing the centre of the tread and making grip and ride quality worse. The recommended figures in the chart are the sweet spot — and if you're carrying a full load of passengers or luggage, switch to the laden values before you set off.

What tyre pressure should a Bentley Continental be?
It depends on your tyre size and variant — most Continental fitments sit roughly between 30 and 38 psi (about 2.1–2.6 bar). Use the chart on this page to find your exact size, and confirm against the sticker inside the driver's door jamb or your handbook.
Where do I find the recommended pressure on the car?
Most Bentley models have a tyre placard inside the driver's door jamb; some print it inside the fuel filler flap or glovebox lid. It lists front and rear pressures for each approved tyre size, including fully-laden figures. The owner's handbook has the same table.
When should I use the laden pressures?
Use the laden (loaded) figures when the car is carrying close to a full load — four or five occupants, a packed boot, or towing. The extra pressure supports the added weight and keeps the car stable. Drop back to the normal figures once you've unloaded.
What's the difference between psi, bar and kPa?
They're just different units for the same pressure. UK forecourt gauges usually read psi (pounds per square inch), European handbooks often quote bar, and kPa (kilopascals) appears on many door stickers. 1 bar = 14.5 psi = 100 kPa — or simply switch units on the pressure chart.
How often should I check my tyre pressures?
Once a month, and always before a long journey or when loading the car up. Tyres lose air naturally, and a visual glance won't spot a few psi missing. Check them cold, and if one tyre keeps losing pressure faster than the rest, have it inspected — it may have a slow puncture.
